Tea Tree Oil
The health of your hair depends upon the health of your scalp. However, lack of time, increased pollution in the air and chemicals present in the water used to wash hair can wreak havoc to your scalp and causes a number of scalp problems like a dry and flaky scalp, dandruff, itching of the scalp, psoriasis etc. It is in such cases that we can use tea tree oil for scalp issues.
Health and beauty experts believe that tea tree oil is quite effective in resolving a number of scalp issues as it has anti-fungal properties that destroy the bacteria responsible for the formation of too many skin cells and thus prevents dandruff. Also, when applied on the scalp, its properties that control bacteria and cure inflammation, go a long way in preventing a number of scalps related problems. Thus, using tea tree oil can help prevent and cure many scalp issues. Here are a few remedies that are particularly effective.
Tea Tree Oil for Scalp Issues
1. Scalp Ringworm
Fill up to ¾ of a bottle with a hair oil of your choice. You can choose from almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, olive oil etc. Add 15 drops of tea tree oil. Close the bottle and shake it well to mix the contents. Massage this concoction into your scalp using the tips of your fingers. Make sure that your scalp and hair are well coated with the oil mixture. Leave this in your hair through the night and wash your hair in the morning using a mild shampoo. This is extremely effective in curing scalp ringworm as well as a number of other scalp problems.
2. Dry Scalp
Take some water and add 10 drops of tea tree oil to it. Use this mixture to give a final rinse to your hair after shampooing. This prevents the scalp from drying up. Similarly adding 10 drops of tea tree oil for scalp issues to your shampoo and using this to wash your hair can also help in evading a dry scalp.
3. Scalp Eczema
Tea tree oil is considered to be extremely effective in curing the eczema of the scalp. Take some jojoba oil and add in some drops of tea tree oil to it. Using your fingertips, massage this oil into your scalp in circular motion. Leave this in your hair for about an hour or leaving it overnight would be a better option. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat this procedure 2 or 3 times a week to completely cure scalp eczema.
4. Scalp Fungus
Lack of hygiene and too much sweat can sometimes lead to scalp fungus. Extract the gel of Aloe Vera and mix about 25 drops of tea tree oil to this. Mix this properly and apply this it on your scalp. After 30 minutes, wash your hair the way you normally do. Repeat this process twice a week to get rid of scalp fungus.
5. Oily Scalp
This can be quite an annoying problem as it leaves your hair seeming sticky, unclean and unkempt. To avoid that take some tea tree oil and massage this into your scalp for a few minutes. After some time, wash your hair with a shampoo that does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate. This will help you to get rid of the greasy looking hair.
6. Flaky Scalp
The flaky scalp can cause embarrassment to you when the flakes snow down on your clothes. However, tea tree oil can easily help cure this problem. Mix some tea tree oil for scalp issues into your regular shampoo. Use this shampoo to wash your hair, concentrating on the areas of the scalp that have flakes. Massage the shampoo here for a few minutes and then leave in the shampoo for about 5 minutes and finally, rinse your hair.
7. Scalp Acne
Add a few drops of tea tree oil to the hair oil of your choice. Mix this well and apply this on your scalp. Make sure you apply a considerable amount of oil on the areas that are affected by the acne. Leave this in your hair throughout the night and wash it off with a mild shampoo.
Tea tree oil for scalp issues is extremely effective in curing various other scalp issues like dandruff, itchiness, and psoriasis of the scalp. You can either use the oil or a shampoo that contains tea tree oil, for scalp issues.
