Not everyone is good at caring for themselves. Sometimes it doesn’t come naturally; other times work or other commitments come out on top and we think self-care can wait. It is important, however, to pamper ourselves every once in a while.

Self-care doesn’t have to take a whole day, and it doesn’t always require being a chore. You’re meant to practice in something that you enjoy, otherwise, it’s not going to make us happier.

Here are a few small and simple ways to look after ourselves better.

Take a bubble bath

Unwind your muscles and relax your mind by running yourself a bubble bath with your favorite scent and bath lotions. You can keep it simple, or if you want to make it fancy, create an ambiance, light some candles, play some chilled music, and close your eyes as you soak.

Buy your favorite perfume

Moisturize

Practice affirmation

Every morning, or before you go to bed, look in the mirror and list off a handful of compliments. It’s good to remind yourself about what you do well, aspects of yourself you love, or whether you have achieved something great that day. You can also practice affirmation by writing it down in a journal.

Drink plenty of water

Flush out the toxins by drinking plenty of water. Get yourself a bottle so that you can keep tabs on how much you are ingesting and be sure to consume 2 liters a day. Plenty of water aids in digestion, the transportation of nutrients, and helps you maintain your body temperature.

Do something you loved as a child

Remember what it is you enjoyed doing as a kid and refamiliarize yourself with it; you never know whether it’ll bring back happy, comforting memories for you to enjoy. This could be a sport, food, drink, or even a movie.

Caring for yourself should never be viewed as a chore. There are many ways to shower yourself love, and it doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive, either.
