Year after year, liposuction is the top cosmetic procedure people have done. Wanting to change the way your body looks is a common concern among all demographics. Diet and exercise are the best routes for this, but they can only do so much. Many people find that they have certain areas that have excess fat that they aren’t able to get rid of. Usually, people find these areas on the stomach, arms, and hips. Unfortunately, you aren’t able to spot reduce fat in certain areas. If you’re already at your goal weight, but you’re dealing with these stubborn fat areas, you should consider Vaser liposuction. This will allow you to contour your body the way that you want to with the help of a doctor.

How does Vaser liposuction work?

Vaser liposuction is a specific method of having liposuction that not everyone is familiar with. In a Vaser liposuction procedure, a doctor will use ultrasonic vibrations to break down fat. When you’re having fat removed, it isn’t able to come out easily without being broken down first. These ultrasonic vibrations break down the fat cells so that the fat becomes movable.

A small incision will be made to insert a tube connected to a vacuum. During the procedure, you’ll either have local anesthesia or general anesthesia administered. Once the fat is broken down, it will be removed with the use of the tube. After the fat cells are removed, they won’t be able to grow back. This makes Vaser liposuction, and every other type of liposuction a permanent procedure.

Vaser liposuction is most often done as an outpatient procedure, so you’re able to go home the same day. Swelling is to be expected at first, so you might be unable to see the results immediately. Following the surgery, you’ll also be given a compression garment for the area to help it heal.

What are the side effects?

Vaser liposuction is a surgical procedure, so there are risks associated with it. While you may be doing this solely for aesthetic reasons, it should be taken as seriously as any other medical procedure. Vaser liposuction does have a few side effects that could happen, but many aren’t serious and can go away on their own.

A few side effects that can occur include:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Infection
  • Skin loss
  • Nerve damage
  • Seroma, or fluid-filled pockets

There are some people who wouldn’t be good candidates for vaser liposuction due to other health concerns. Among the people who aren’t recommended for this procedure are those with, low blood pressure, weakened immune systems, diabetes, and coronary artery disease. For the best results, you should also have elasticity in your skin to help recover from the procedure.

Is it better than other liposuction methods?

Since there’s more than one option for liposuction, you might wonder what the best one to get is. All types of liposuction involve fat being removed from the body with a small tube. While they all largely similar due to this, there’s actually several different types of liposuction. Traditional liposuction uses a saline solution to turn the fat into a liquid. There is also laser liposuction, where a medical laser beam will be shot at fat to break down the cells.

While they’re all effective at contouring the body, many people prefer Vaser liposuction. The use of ultrasonic waves does not do anything to disrupt the surrounding skin. This method can also make it easier to remove fat than the others, especially in men. One thing that separates Vaser liposuction from other liposuction procedures is that the fat is still usable afterward. When fat is removed by vaser liposuction, you can still use it for other spots of the body. This allows you to spot reduce in certain areas, and then go back and enhance others.

Recovery from vaser liposuction also tends to be faster. While you might have two weeks to recover from other methods, vaser liposuction can only take a few days. The recovery period is also typically less painful because the skin and the rest of the surrounding areas aren’t being disrupted. Vaser liposuction can allow you to get the same results with fewer troubles.
